Ngatuhoa Lodge is a youth camp deep in the native bush in the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park. The camp has a bunkhouse with 50 comfortable bunks, a large dining-room with fireplace, and fully equipped kitchen with a six hob gas cooker and slow burning wood fire. An outside building houses a barbecue, pantry, and a large walk-in fridge; another has hot showers and flush toilets. Electric power is supplied from a small hydro installation nearby. There is also a recreation hall for extra sleeping, and is plenty of room for tents campers and vans. Canoes and life jackets are in a shed a short stroll away.
Ngatuhoa is about 23Km from SH29, through two locked gates. The last 9Km is on a private unsealed
forestry road, generally good, with several short steep narrow sections. |
