Where:-

From State Highway 10, 23 km north of Kaitaia and 8 km west of Taipa, turn north into Inland Road on the Karikari peninsula. Go 12 km and turn right. Follow signs through Matai Bay, 10 km to the reserve camping ground.

What's there:-

Water, cold outdoor showers; toilets and fireplaces. No open fires or animals. A boat ramp and two nice beaches. Petrol at Whatuwhiwhi and a camp shop at the Sunlover Motel.

Comment:-

Mar 09, AP - First to the northern bay - no one there, no problem walking the full length naked. Headed over the pass and sat on the little peninsula overlooking the southern beach. It was a nice walk to the northern end of the southern part, too.
