Where:-

Follow State Highway 1, 87 km north of Kaitaia, toward Cape Reinga. Turn right at Waitiki Landing: 16 km to Spirits Bay; a surf beach.

What's there:-

Freshwater lagoon, fishing, skin diving, snorkelling and walking tracks. A large camping ground with water, toilets and outdoor shower. Animals and open fires not permitted. Some secluded sites: suit clothes-optional camping out of season. Supplies from Waitiki Landing or Te Kao, 25 km south.

Mar 09, AP - There was a good number of people camping in the grounds, but I only had enough time to take a few shots. I could have gone naked on the beach, as it was disserted, but my time had run out, unfortunately.

Nov 07, SX - A beautiful place - not a soul around - good surf, and fishing too.
