Karekare Beach

The distance from Waitakere City is about 21 km.

Where:-

From the Scenic Drive turn west into the Piha Road, drive 15 km and turn left at a sign to Karekare. To reach the northern end of the beach, go up Watchman's Road to the end, then walk along a track through the bush and over the sandhills. Or walk south around the rocks (a precipitous track across the cliff). Access only at mid to low tide. Try also the little park with a waterfall 100 m up Lone Kauri Road.
