Waimarama Beach

The distance from Hastings is about 36 km.

Where:-

From Havelock North, follow the signs 28 km out to Waimarama. At the bottom of the hill turn left into either the first, Waitangi Road or the third, Tiakitai Road: they both end up near suitable spots on the beach. In the case of Waitangi Road for the best spot, go 3 km then park about 50 m short of the 'Private Property' notice (on the last bend). Or go on toward the domain but turn left near the beach, park where convenient; walk across the creek and go another 200 m north.

What's there:-

In the case of either Waitangi or Tiakitai Roads in mid-summer, you may encounter long term campers nearby. Camping permitted. Supplies at the shop near the domain.

This beach has larely reverted to mainly 'textile' these days. However if you've been there recently, please advise us of your feelings about it!
