Where:-

From Dunedin, leave the waterfront at Andersons Bay Inlet 1 km, then head across the isthmus to Ocean Grove. Pass the top end of Tomahawk Beach and next is the car park behind Smaills Beach. There are two main tracks to the beach: the left one is a flat 400 m walk alongside the creek; the other a 250 m hilly walk over the dunes

What's there:-

No access at high tide. Motor camp at Tahuna Park, St Kilda Beach. Several signs indicate a sewer outfall by Tomahawk Beach.

Comment:-

Jan 04, AG - Smails Beach has potential - tar seal goes all the way and only a couple of houses can see the beach, from a distance. The sewer outfall signs might put people off, although no other evidence of pollution. It was morning: almost had the beach to ourselves.
