Andrew at Papamoa

March 2011 - Coromandel

This month I went to Cooks Beach. I parked my car at the eastern end of the Beach and walked with my togs on, because there were too many people on the beach in front of the beach car park. At the western end of the beach I got down onto the Shakespeare Cliff track and walked nude up to the lookout to take some photos. Then it was down through the bush to Ferry Landing Beach, where the togs had to come back on for the beach front houses.

I did lie naked on the beach there for half an hour, but I think I pushed my luck!

So it was back on the Shakespeare Cliff for a nude bush walk to Lonely Bay beach, where there was only one couple. A great little beach to get away from everyone.

Next it was down the bush to Cooks Beach in the nude. Although initially the togs were on, for the last quarter of the beach I went back to my usual choice, as there was no one around... I just had to walk some part of the very housey - public beach in the nude... but generally it may be a risk to walk naked on this beach. That night I stayed at Whitianga Holiday Park.

Opera point Beach

The next day I headed north and my first stop was Simpsons Beach to check it out. You could walk it in the nude and the southern end looked the best to sunbathe nude.

So it was off to Whangapoua!

As you come into Whangapoua, there is the  Opera Point Historic Reserve car park. From here you follow the bush walk around to Opera Point Beach, which I did all in the nude. Met some nice people along the way.

It's quite an amazing beach. The northern end is suitable for children to swim at.

I set off for the end of Whangapoua Beach, were there is a little car park. Walk a long the stream,  and if the tide is out it's just a trickle - okay to cross,  but if the tide is in, you'll have to wade across. When I got there the tide was coming in. Those in front of me got their shorts wet... but I avoided that by (you guessed) taking my togs off. From then on I was nude all the way... around the rocks and on to the bush walk to New Chums Beach.

What an unbelievable beach and natural bush this is. I spent the rest of the afternoon lying nude in an untouched tranquillity - in amongst all the tourists... And again, no one looked twice.

And the weather was great all the way!
